SILK For thousands of
years the Chinese have been enjoying the benefits of Silk. Mulberry
Silk comes from silkworms that eat mulberry leaves. Their silk
cocoons are unravelled and form the basis for our silk products.
These techniques have been nurtured over thousands of years.
There are two types of silk and they vary greatly in
quality: wild silk; and mulberry silk. Wild silk is produced by
silkworms using any available food source they can find. Wild silk
is generally found to be of a lesser quality than Mulberry silk,
where the silkworms are fed on a diet exclusively of mulberry
leaves. Mulberry silk fibres are finer and softer than wild silk
fibres. |
